QR Payments in Nigeria with GoTap
A GoTap QR code lets another GoTap user start a payment without typing your account details. The sender checks the recipient and amount, then confirms. If you are receiving money, check the payment in your own GoTap account before completing the sale.
What you and your customer need
Both people need GoTap for a GoTap QR payment. Install the app from the official app stores, create your account and complete the checks requested in the app. Keep an internet connection available.
A GoTap QR payment is different from a bank-card payment. Do not assume that another bank’s app can scan and pay a GoTap QR.
Pay by scanning a GoTap QR
Use the QR payment option in GoTap. Follow the amount and scanning prompts in your app, then check the recipient on the review screen.
- Check the recipient name and payment amount.
- Read any fee and the total debit before confirming.
- Confirm the payment using the authentication requested in the app.
- Check the transaction status. If the result is unclear, check your transactions before trying again.
Receive a payment on your phone
Open Receive and choose QR Code. Check the displayed name, then show or share your code. For a business payment, switch to your business account first.
Ask the customer to scan with GoTap and complete the payment. Check your own transaction record and the amount received. A screenshot from the customer is not proof that your business has been paid.
QR or bank transfer?
GoTap QR is useful when the customer also uses GoTap. A bank transfer is another option when someone wants to pay through their banking service. Charges and payment confirmation still need to be checked for either method.

Can someone pay my GoTap QR without GoTap?
Use GoTap to pay a GoTap QR. Do not assume the code works with every banking or payment app.
Do I need NFC for a QR payment?
No. QR scanning uses the phone’s camera. Phone-to-phone Tap is a separate payment option for supported Android devices.
What if the payment is not confirmed?
Check Transactions before trying again. Keep the transaction reference and contact GoTap support if the payment still needs help.
