GoTap payment guide
Phone-to-Phone Tap Payments with GoTap
GoTap Tap is a phone-to-phone payment option for supported Android devices. It starts a GoTap payment that the sender reviews and confirms. It does not mean that your phone can accept any contactless bank card.
Check your phone first
Tap requires a supported Android phone and NFC availability. GoTap’s Tap option is currently unavailable on iPhone. If the app says NFC is unavailable, use QR instead.
Having an Android phone does not by itself guarantee support. Check the Tap option in your app rather than buying a phone on the assumption that it will work.
Tap, review and confirm
Use the Tap option in GoTap and follow the instructions for bringing the phones together. Before authorising payment, review the recipient, amount and any displayed fee.
Phone contact is not payment confirmation. Check the completed transaction in your account. If an attempt was already authorised, check its status before making a second payment by QR.
GoTap Tap and a card POS terminal do different jobs
Phone-to-phone GoTap Tap is for payments through GoTap. A card POS terminal accepts supported bank cards under its provider’s terms. Choose around the payment methods your customers use.
Common questions
Does GoTap Tap work on iPhone?
Not currently. Use GoTap QR or a bank transfer on iPhone.
Can I accept Visa or Mastercard by tapping a card on my phone?
GoTap’s phone-to-phone Tap should not be treated as bank-card acceptance. Use a service that explicitly supports the cards you want to accept.
What should I use when NFC is unavailable?
Use GoTap QR. If you already authorised a Tap attempt, check its transaction status before paying again.
